Top 10 Things to Know about Raleigh before Moving Here

1. This area is known as the "Triangle" because Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill form a geographical triangle of sorts.
2. Raleigh is close to the beach however it's 2+ hours away but it's still a great day trip!
3. Southern hospitality is a real thing here. Before you know it you'll be waving at strangers on the street too!
4. The barbecue is definitely great here, but there is a difference between Eastern and Western NC barbecue. Just so you are prepared :)
5. The public schools here run on a traditional and year-round calendar. The year-round calendar is broken out into 4 different "tracks" for you to choose from.
6. The traffic has definitely gotten worse here as the area has exponentially grown and continues to grow, but it's still not horrible compared to some other cities, yet.
7. If you like college sports then you will love living here! Especially if you like college basketball as this is the mecca. The whole town shuts down for March Madness!
8. The State Fair is a huge deal here. It is held every October in Raleigh and is a can't miss event!
9. We do have winter here so it does get cold, but it snows maybe 2 or 3 inches during the winter and the whole area shuts down for a couple of days. It's kind of nice!
10. There are lots of great museums and arts/concert venues but the real attraction here are the parks and outdoorsy stuff to do here. If you're an outdoor enthusiast you'll love it here!
